EGrammar Unit 8 - Present Perfect (2)
現在完了形の使い方(2)過去から現在にかけての事。
When we talk about a period of time that continues from the past until now, we use the present perfect. (recently / in the last few days / so far/ since break fast, etc)
Ex)
- Have you ever eaten caviar? (in your life)
- We have never had a car.
- What a boring movie! It's the most boring movie I've ever seen.
- I have never been to China. Have you been there?
- been (to) = visited / gone toの場合、過去に行ってそのまま、とかそんな感じだったかと。
- Have you heard from Brian recently?
- I am hungry. I have not eaten anything since breakfast. (= from breakfast until now)
- It is nice to see you again. We haven't seen each other for a long time.
We use the present perfect with today/ this morning/ this evening, etc., when these periods are not finished at the time of speaking.
Ex)
- I have drunk for cups of coffee today.
- Have you had a vacation this year?
We say, "It is the first time something has happened"
Ex)
- It's the first time he has driven a car. or He has never driven a car before.
- Sarah has lost her pass port again. It's the second time this has happened.
- Erick is calling his girlfriend again. This is the third time he's called her tonight.
