現在完了形と過去形、両方使える場合

It is often possible to use the present perfect or the simple past.
現在完了形と過去形、どちらでもよい場合は結構あるのです。たとえば次の文は過去形でも現在完了系でもどちらでもかまわないです。

  • I have lost my key. Have you seen it?
  • I lost my key. Did you see it?

現在完了形と過去形の比較

だけど、現在完了形だけしか、あるいは過去形だけしか使えない場合も多々あります。比較してみましょう。

現在完了形

過去から現在に渡って続いている事を述べる時に使います。 today/this week/since 1985などです。The present perfect always has a connection with now.現在完了形は、現在につながりがあることについて言う時にいつだって使うのです。

  • My brother is a writer. He has written many books. (He still writes books.)
  • It hasn't rained this week.
  • We have been waiting for an hour. (We are still waiting now)
  • I have never played golf. (in my life)
過去形

過去に終わったことについて述べる時に使います。Do not use the present perfect if there is no connection with the present. The simple past tells us only about the past.

  • Shakespeare wrote many plays.
  • It didn't rain last week.
  • We waited (or were waiting) for an hour. (We are no longer waiting.)
  • I didn't play golf last summer.
