過去形 / Simple past

We often the simple past ends in -ed (regular verbs). But many verbs are irregular. This means that the simple past does not end in -ed.

The hotel wasn't very expensive. It did not cost very much.
この文がいまいちよく分からなかった。字面通りに「すごく高い訳じゃなかったから、すごくお金がかかった訳じゃないのよ」と取れば良いのか、行間を読んで、すごく高い訳じゃなかったけどやっぱり高かった、けど、そんなにお金はかからなかった＝払ったお金に対して価値は高い、とかそんな感じで受け取れば良いのかなぁ、と。
